The Pope’s prayer intention for the month of April

At the beginning of Holy Week, Pope Leo XIV announced his prayer intention for the month of April. It is dedicated to priests in crisis and opens up an opportunity to reflect on the need to care for them, listen to them, and be with them.

Through the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network campaign “Pray with the Pope,” the Holy Father invites the faithful and all people of good will to spend a moment in prayer, to become aware of and reflect on the fact that behind every cleric there is a person who needs closeness and a listening ear. Let us pray for our clergy throughout the whole month of April.

In his prayer, the Pope offers a moving appeal to priests who are going through difficult moments: when loneliness weighs heavily, when doubt shadows their hearts, and when exhaustion seems stronger than hope, they are always supported by the prayer of the People of God.

Leo XIV reminds us that priests are not merely functionaries nor solitary heroes, but beloved sons, humble and valued disciples, and pastors sustained by the prayer of their people.

In addition, the Pope stresses the importance of rediscovering the communal dimension of the priesthood. Above all, he calls on the faithful to listen without judgment, to give thanks without demanding perfection, and to accompany them with closeness and sincere prayer, acknowledging that caring for priests is a shared responsibility of the whole People of God.

In his prayer, the Pope asks in particular that priests may have healthy friendships, networks of fraternal support, and the grace to rediscover the beauty of their vocation.
